So you've decided to create a candy buffet for your next event.  Candy buffets are hip and now a popular trend for all ages.  Many brides/hosts are using candy buffets as an alternative to party favors.  But how much candy do you need?  As a general rule of thumb, 1/3 to 1/2 pound per guest.  This means that if you have 50 guests, you will need as much as 400 ounces or 25 pounds.  This estimate takes into account that some guests will take more and some may take less or none at all.  It's better to have too much candy than too little - imagine being the last person in line.  Having enough candy is crucial to making a buffet look good.
                                                                                                                   
So how much is 1/2 pound?  1/2 pound is equivalent to approximately 8 ounces depending on the size of the candy.  Measurements depend on the size and density of your sweets.  Below we've included a handy chart to give you a better idea.
